The «Candle» in Siberia: ethnographic and cultural-anthropological aspects of the existance of the rite with Byelorussian migrants

The article is devoted to investigation of a worshipping rite and transferring the «Candle» icon, which preserved on the territory of Vikulovo region of Tyumen Oblast’ with descendants of migrants from Mogilev province. The paper undertakes a comparison of the rite exercised in Siberia with its distinctions in the places of the migrants’ outcome.

Traditional worldview with the Barabino Tartars in the second third of XX — early XXI century: beliefs on spirits-the masters from the «undeveloped» spaces

The article contains a description of spirits-the-masters from spaces undeveloped by man (road, water, fo-rest, field) with the Barabino Tartars in the second third of XX early XXI century. The main source for compiling this paper was field data from the archives of Museum of Archaeology and Ethnography at the Omsk State University named after F.M. Dostoyevsky and Museum of Siberian Peoples at the Omsk branch of the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography, Siberian branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The Pur Forest Nenets: certain aspects of economic, cultural and social adaptation

The article considers data collected by the author in the early 1980s and in 2000s during expeditions to the Pur forest Nenets. Within that interval, the region underwent cardinal changes: since early 1990s, the Pur District of Yamal-Nenets National Region has become an important base of oil production, resulting in a drastic change of the regional ecological and sociocultural situation. However, a stable orientation of the forest Nenets toward their occupation in traditional branches of economic activity gave them a chance to get adapted to the changing natural environment, as well as to social and technogenic transformations, serving as the basis for preservation of their ethnic traditions.

a cut and decorations of rite gowns with North Mansi

The article describes a cut of rite gowns with North Mansi, as well as methods and an arrangement of decorations upon them. Basing on a comparative and typological method, the author selects sacrificial gowns characterized by the availability of a sewn coin and cuttings in the armpits, from among the rite gowns.

Bystrinsky Evenes: history of studies and selection of the group

The article is devoted to the history of ethnographic studies of Bystrinsky Evenes and a question of their selection into a separate group within Evene’s ethnic group. The author illustrates a history of their arrival to Kamchatka, studies of Evenes by domestic and foreign investigators in XIXXX centuries. Subject to investigation being also a question of ethnonymics of Kamchatka Evenes and ethnocultural features of Bystrinsky Evenes.
