On anthropological composition and genesis of mediaeval taiga population from then Middle Ob basin
Craniological series obtained from Saigatino burial grounds
make it possible to undertake a description of an
anthropological look regarding mediaeval population from the taiga zone of the
Middle Ob basin. Anthropologically, its genesis being constituted by different elements. First of all, these
are populations of the Ob-and-Irtysh
type genetically connected with south Samodian genesis line. This enables us
treating the whole territory of the
Middle Ob basin within the limits of the south Tertiary West Siberian focus of
race formation. Out of the question
also, being development of physique considerably influenced by Saigatino
paleopopulation which anthropological
type was dominated by distinctions of the Uralic populations determining
specificity of the Ob Ugrians’ anthropological look.
